What Remains: Artifacts, Memory, and Stories of Place
During part I, participants will be introduced to several artist-created artifacts from St. Louis history to consider how material culture can tell stories of lived experience and memorialize a sense of place. During part II, participants will draw inspiration from the artifacts and discussion to create a handmade book that reflects their own memories, relationships to place, or personal histories. Participants are invited to bring a material culture artifact of their own and share its story during part I. No prior bookmaking experience is required.
